Noise Combinations

Installation with a virtual tour and modified control device, Ekaterina Cultural Foundation, 2023.The work is part of the MAMM collection.

Modern reality is characterized by instability, accelerating technological progress, disorientation, and the transition of mythical substances into real organisms of genetic modifications. In a state of anxiety, a phenomenon like apophenia, which is both inherent and productive for humans, acquires pathological traits and—returning to the essence of its evolutionary mechanism of threat identification—turns into a paranoid pattern recognition machine. Neural networks have this same feature of extracting images from noise within their architecture, though without the sensory hyperactivation.

The virtual tour through surgical rooms offers a way to cure the obsessive reading of signs by immersing visitors in a neural network-generated environment filled with its own patterns. Many agents within this environment are stuck in mutation cycles, identifiable as dynamic substances. The constantly transforming structural spaces hint at the idea of potentially possible simulations of multiverses in the near future, generated by AI in real time, accessible through VR headsets or neurochips installed in the visual cortex.

The multimedia installation references the practice of video tours via Google Maps through new apartments for sale or rent. The modified mouse presented in the work envelops the hand, serving as a symbiotic result of the increasing connection between humans and technology. Each viewer, through their actions, influences the narrative for the next user, unknowingly altering their experience based on points of intuitive interaction.
